Postgraduates, mature and overseas students

New to Leeds

Unipol understand what it is like coming to a new city, not knowing where you will be living or who you will be living with, so we have pre-selected some suitable properties that we think postgraduates, mature and overseas students may like.

Most of these properties are letting rooms on an individual basis, so they have lockable doors and in the main, have double beds. It is also possible to rent these properties on-line without viewing them. We try to ensure a full picture of the property is given by the advert with full details, pictures, floor plans and a map, so you can make an informed decision before commiting

Working hard

Plenty of post graduate, mature and overseas students wish to experience living in a house share in the city and make new friends who are in a similar position to themselves.  Some post graduates stay on in the accommodation for a further term and this often means we have suitable houses with rooms to spare.

Planning to live alone?

Unipol have many bedsits in several different types of buildings in 4 different locations so there is plenty of choice if you want to live alone whilst still benefiting from the value for money a bedsit can give you.  All of our bedsits have self contained sleeping and living areas and you always have your own kitchen with mod cons.  The only thing you share with the other residents are the main bathrooms and additional toilets, which are regularly cleaned by our cleaning contractors.  Some of our bedsits even have their own private showers (St Martin's Terrace) self contained in the flat. We usually included some or most bills with these properties.

If you are coming with a partner or can stretch to a fully self contained one bed flat (usually approximately £500+ per month) then we have some good sized flats both in Hyde Park which borders onto University area, or just South of the city in a quiet modern development of mainly professionals

Shared housing

Unipol let individual rooms in shared houses throughout the city to postgraduate students. We endevour to only place postgraduate together in a house or flat.

Would like to know who you are living with?

Unipol provide a facility using their Student Noticeboard where you can interact with other Post Graduates (or anyone) in order to make new friends to start the house hunting process, or to look at rooms offered or suggest other properties that you have found and to look for people to join your group.  We also have a facebook page.

We also carry out accompanied viewings with Post Graduates on our Post Graduate House Hunting days where we work with you from start to finish to advise, accompany and hopefully house you with other Post Graduates, many of whom you may meet on the day.

Rent On-line without coming to Leeds

Unipol operate a rent online facility so that you can book a room without actually visiting the property or being in Leeds to sign a contract. All properties can be let on an 'Individual Tenancy' so that you are not tied into a financial liability with other house mates.

Many of the properties have lockable bedrooms doors: all of the developments, some of the houses (ask for more details) and all have double bedrooms (4ft or 4ft 6" wide)

You can view the photographs and floor plans on our web site, ask any questions you might have about the other house mates or the property and look through the contract and other information using the Rent Online service.

Areas to live in Leeds

Headingley:

For those that want a real community feel and a lot going on, Headingley is a town centre outside of the city, with bars, cafes and restaurants, but also a multitude of shops, banks, hair dressers etc all along a central main street with lots of greenery and pretty stone houses to give it a real villagey feel. Also direct bus links to the Universities.

Meanwood:

We have Post Graduate houses in some of the quieter areas, like Meanwood where there is a more mature mix of young (and old) professionals and families, with large parks, bus links to city and a new Waitrose supermarket and some new bar/restaurants giving the area a more cosmopolitan feel.

Burley:

Burley is a mix of students and professionals, about half an hour walk to the Universities. Positioned between town and Headingley this is ideal for mixed groups who travel to the Headingley campus and the city campuses, and who enjoyed the merits of Headingley town centre without living right in the thrust of it all.  There are several amenities with supermarkets, cinemas and the train station all within walking distance.
