It’s not uncommon to experience friction or difficulties living in shared student accommodation. Unipol has a Tenancy Support Officer who can help you to resolve issues that arise whilst living in Unipol housing. The Tenancy Support Officer will provide advice on how you can resolve problems yourself in the first instance, usually encouraging tenants to speak to the person who is causing the difficulty.
Unipol produce a publication called Keep the Peace which is full of advice on dealing with some of the most common issues that may occur including noise, antisocial behaviour, cleaning, household bills, fall outs and personality clashes. You can collect a copy at the Unipol bureau or by contacting Sarah Kelly, Tenancy Support Officer on email@example.com.
There is also some more information on our website about how you can live harmoniously:
If you speak to the person causing the difficulty but the problem is still not resolved, it may be possible for the Tenancy Support Officer to intervene. Before this could happen you would need to put some details in writing about the situation. The Tenancy Support Officer will normally then arrange a meeting to discuss your options.
The Tenancy Support Officer can also provide advice on the support services that may be available through your institution or the broader community such as mediation, counselling, environmental health or university disciplinary procedures.
